Yamaha Music School
Lorraine Chapman MA DipABRSM (piano teaching) CT ABRSM PMEPTA
I have taught piano and flute for 12 years. My philosophy is to share the joy of music with my students, making lessons accessible, fun and progressive, tailoring them to each student’s individual need and style, believing firmly in an holistic approach to music teaching. I teach both jazz and classical music, and am passionate about the Dalcroze Eurhythmics approach to music education (in a nutshell: exploring music and rhythm through the use of the whole body).
I’m really looking forward to teaching the Junior Music Course in Autumn 2018 – the Yamaha method incorporates an approach which I believe in wholeheartedly, especially having seen the amazing results it can yield as the children gain experience.
I have been piano accompanist for the Wantage Male Voice Choir for ten years, which I adore, and I perform solo regularly in care homes and at weddings.
I am also currently working on a PhD in piano education, the research from which is feeding greatly into my teaching – very exciting!
